Loveland Youth Soccer Association
PLAYER CENTERED, FAMILY FRIENDLY, COMMUNITY CONNECTED
Our Vision
Our Family of Programs to Meet Your Family's Soccer Need
Our vision is a growing and vibrant club that is player centered, family friendly, community focused. We love the game of soccer and see its real value as a way to equip our youth with experiences and opportunities to build life skills. We believe:
-
All players should have an opportunity to develop and grow
-
Soccer is a vehicle to teach lifelong skills, provide a fun experience for kids and a way to develop community.
-
Wins and losses are best viewed in how children experience and learn lifelong skills from them.
-
Adults/coaches are incredibly important in their capacity to teach important lifelong skills through the experience of sports
-
Family and community are a critical foundation.
-
We cannot take youth sports too seriously, it is a game for youth, not adults
Our Story
The Loveland Youth Soccer Association, LYSA, Soccer Club was formed in 1976 to offer organized soccer to the greater Loveland community. In response to the growing needs of our soccer community FC Storm was created in 2016 to include a competitive soccer division for more advanced players. Several years later FC Storm Academy was created for pre-select players (U7 and U8) who more training opportunities than the rec program could provide. Today over 1600 players participate in soccer programs under the Loveland Youth Soccer Association umbrella making it one of the largest soccer clubs in the greater Cincinnati area.
As its grown, the Loveland Youth Soccer Association has not waived from its mission of offering professionally organized soccer experience to its players and families that is player centered, family friendly and community connected.
A Heritage of Player Centered Innovation
LYSA offers soccer to any player regardless of skill, experience or financial background. Over the past decade a number of changes have been made to improve the player and family experience. These include
-
Creation of Tiger Paws, the areas first program specifically designed to introduce 2 and 3 year olds to the world of soccer.
-
Implementation of small-sided games in Passers, Wings and Strikers to make the game easier to learn and play in age.
-
Elimination of scoring and standings in Passers to create more focus on player development and equal playing time in games
-
Providing coaches clinics and loaning coaches practice kits with cones, pinnies and pop up goals
-
Hiring trainers to work with coaches throughout the season
-
Adopting the MOJO app which is specifically designed to offer training sessions geared to the recreational player.
-
Reducing the number of practices to ease dinner hour time commitments for busy families
-
Allowing players to play with friends to encourage greater participation and enabling parents to carpool to practices.
Each season LYSA leadership asks what worked, what needs to be improved and how can the program be better next season.
